PHARMACOKINETICS OF TELMISARTAN IN HUMAN VOLUNTEERS
Abstract
Therapeutic drug monitoring requires simple, fast, reliable and cost effective methods. Six healthy human (male) volunteers, ages 25 ± 3 years and weighing 65 ± 10 Kg participated in the study. Volunteers were administered a single oral dose Telmisartan (40mg). Blood samples were collected at predetermined time intervals. Plasma concentration of Telmisartan was determined using UV- spectrophotometric method after liquid-liquid extraction from plasma. The Pharmacokinetics parameters were determined using one compartment open model. The Cmax was 24.86 ± 6.0 µg/ml, Tmax of 2.66 ± 0.52h, t1/2ab, 1.11 ± 0.53, AUCo-24 was 61.95 ± 7.56µg.h/ml and t1/2β 20.14 ± 0.5h. All the major parameters re in line with previously reported data in humans.
